I love to travel, and one of my goals in life is to visit as many different countries as possible. I'm at 19 right now, which is a respectable number as far as that goes, but not nearly enough to satisfy my acute wanderlust. I just feel that there are too many beautiful and fascinating places in this world to stay confined in my hometown. I want to see everything! Of course, this can be a very expensive hobby, especially because I'm not a millionaire or a trust fund brat. But thanks to frequent deals on cheap international air tickets, I've been able to do quite a bit of traveling on even on my small budget. I know there are folks out there that will tell you the only way to get cheap international air tickets is to fly standby. They're correct in the sense that a standby ticket is indeed quite a bit cheaper than reserving your seat early, but honestly, who can travel like that? If I take a week off of work for my vacation to Tahiti, then I better make sure I get to Tahiti! I don't want to wait around in an airport hoping for someone else to miss the flight or change their minds at the last minute. Plus, how can I score discount hotel reservations, book a rental car, or plan any activities if I don't even know when I'll arrive at my destination. Sorry, but flying standby is not for me. Other people say you have to travel as a courier or something like that in order to get cheap international air tickets. Again, there's a grain of truth to this statement, insofar as couriers do indeed get deep discounts on their airfare. But if you rely on this method to get cheap international air tickets, I can tell you right now you won't be able to travel the way you want. Couriers are used infrequently, and most companies already have steady relationships with a dependable crew. It can be tough for a newcomer to break into the game. Furthermore, couriers usually travel alone, so unless you're content to go solo, I'd skip this option. Speaking as someone with years of experience, I'd much rather just look for cheap international air tickets in the usual ways, like scouring internet travel sites, speaking with booking agents, and just generally monitoring fares until I spot a deal that's too good to pass up. This gives me a lot more control over the whole situation, which is how I like it. The bottom line here is that you don't have to rely on the uncertainty of flying standby or scoring a courier gig in order to travel the world. There are plenty of websites and agencies that offer cheap international air tickets on a regular basis. All you have to do is check around to find the best deals!
