With the economy in shambles, vacation plans are changing by the second. The lazy and carefree extended beach trips are being threatened. Family trips on cruise lines or to amusement parks are being cancelled left and right. Instead of splurging on the more luxurious vacations, people are opting for cheap vacations. However, before you rule out any sort of fun whatsoever for the upcoming allotted family time, there are some cheap vacations that aren’t just easy on your wallet, but are excellent ways to bond with your family as well. When people think of cheap vacations, they tend to think about the fact that it means not being able to order room service or having endless amounts of drinks delivered poolside. Sure, you may not be able to live like royalty during this time of economic struggle, but you can certainly take advantage of lots of other ways to spend time with your friends and family.

Inexpensive vacations can consist of simply camping out at a local campground, just to get away from home. For those with small children and who love the great outdoors, doing exactly that may be acceptable. There is a lot to be said for setting up a tent and spending time in nature and fishing, hiking and sitting around a campfire each evening. For those who prefer to not spend time with the pesky insects that come along with the outdoorsy types of cheap vacations, spend some time figuring out exactly what you want to do. When you have a specific plan, it is quite a bit easier to figure out where, when and exactly how much you need to spend.
